Oral history interview with Theodore Brandt, 1975 January 26.

Ted Brandt describes the aggressive group of young union members of Local One of the Amalgamated Lithographers of America in New York City. In 1946 he was a participant in the important negotiations in New York which resulted in a union-run pension plan. Later, Mr. Brandt became president of the Los Angeles (California) Local of ALA and describes his involvement with the CIO, the Central Labor Council, and the State Labor Federation. He discusses his relationship as president of the Los Angeles Local #22, with Local One of New York, and Local Four of Chicago. Mr. Brandt served one term as international councillor under the presidency of George Canary. He traces the rise of Ken Brown to the presidency of the union and discusses Ben Robinson's early presidency.

Alice M. Hoffman, labor historian, labor educator, and oral historian was associate professor of labor studies at King of Prussia, Penn State in the 1970s. She supervised and conducted numerous oral history interviews as director of the Labor Oral History Project, served as an officer with the Oral History Association (1974 to 1976) and the Pennsylvania Labor History Society (ongoing), and joined Bryn Mawr College after retiring from Penn State.
